  • Starting Your Creative Career is a 5 week course designed to help young creatives build confidence and essential employability skills focussed in the BCP / Dorset area.

  • ​Each week we cover​

    1. Portfolio review, skills audit, influences and goals

    2. Creative roles, pathways, niches and local opportunities

    3. How to understand a brief, generate ideas, and present concepts

    4. Software, planning, file management and time-management basics

    5. What a strong starter portfolio looks like and how to prepare for real work

  • Learners will leave with a deeper understanding of the local creative sector, an understanding of what employers are looking for and a range of time-management and an individual action plan on their next steps towards work.

  • Creative freelancing is a 5 week course to help get young people set up as self-employed, thinking about budgeting and finances and prepare to find their first clients.

  • The five weeks will be:

    1. Where work comes from, approaching clients and starting small

    2. Day rates, quotes, invoices, taxes and simple bookkeeping

    3. Communicating with clients, managing expectations, and setting boundaries

    4. Timelines, project stages, contracts, copyright and insurance

    5. Presenting work, handling revisions, invoicing and collecting testimonials

  • Learners will leave with a clearer focus on how to find clients and how to reach out to them, as well as having a toolkit of invoice, contracts and insurance documents ready to use on their first creative comissions.
