Work-readiness

  • Getting Work-Ready is a 5 week course designed to help young creatives build confidence and essential employability skills focussed in the BCP / Dorset area.

  • Learners will develop: exploring industry expectations, the realities of creative work, email etiquette, interview tips, managing creative workloads, CVs + online profiles, personal branding, giving/receiving feedback and researching next steps.

  • Learners will leave with a deeper understanding of the local creative sector, an understanding of what employers are looking for and a range of time-management and an individual action plan on their next steps towards work.

Creative Freelancing

  • Creative freelancing is a 5 week course to help get young people set up as freelance / self-employed and more ready to find their first clients.

  • Learners will explore: understanding what freelancers do, exploring where opportunities come from, setting prices and negotiating, writing invoices and understanding their rights, professional communication and email etiquette, dealing with feedback and revisions, creating a personal brand and writing a basic business plan

  • Learners will leave with a clearer focus on how to find clients and how to reach out to them, as well as having a toolkit of invoice, contracts and insurance documents ready to use on their first creative comissions.
